Harare — IT was a bad weekend for the top teams in the Pacific Northern Region Division One soccer championship race in which the three title-chasing sides dropped crucial points.
Leaders Black Rhinos were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw by bottom-placed Tsungubvi in Glendale on Sunday while second-placed Mwana Africa were at the wrong end of a 3-0 thumping by Kurai United in Chinhoyi.
Douglas Warriors, who were in third place before the weekend's matches, were also thrashed 0-4 by Aces Youth Academy and have dropped to sixth position on the log.
A hat-trick by Emmanuel Silinda and another goal by Young Warriors player Knowledge Musona were enough to hand Douglas Warriors one of their heaviest defeats in the championship race this season.
The Warriors were displaced by the in-form Dorking Farm, who came from behind to beat Felfar 2-1 at Gwanzura on Saturday, thanks to a goal in each half by two-goal hero Lameck Hundi.
Dorking, who are now under the guidance of former Zimbabwe youth international Cosmos Kabote following the death of head coach Jack Shamhu, are now unbeaten in their last eight matches in which they have won seven and drawn once.
Their good run has seen them moving into third place and are now nine points behind leaders Rhinos.
The dark horse in the championship race - Dorking - is now galloping strongly from the outside.
Another threat in this exciting race are Kadoma-based side Savanna Eagles who moved into fourth place for the first time this season after beating visiting Flame Lilly 2-0 at Pfupajena on Sunday.
