Minister of health and sanitation Monday vowed to leave no stone untouched in the new reformation drive in his ministry.
Dr. Soccoh Kabbia made the statement while reacting to allegation that he was involved in illegal practices in the ministry.
"I am confident to tell the general public that the ministry is doing well more than ever before. We have embarked on a massive improvement in the ministry. There are those who do not want to go through this reformation and that is the reason why they are making all these allegations against the ministry and my very self," he said.
He said the allegations made against him that he has connived with certain officers to make away with two containers loaded with drugs and other medical equipment were baseless, unfounded and malicious meant to present a bad image of his ministry to the public.
"I was informed that two of the empty containers have been sold to one Pat Robert. These are empty containers which have been occupying the compound for the past fifteen years. The allegation that a DAF engine got missing is baseless because up until this moment the engine is intact," he said.
Dr. Kabia said the deputy minister Sheku Tajan Koroma was investigating the matter.
He said the officers complained that chief security officer Moses BL Khoda embezzled sixteen million leones meant for the training of security personnel.
"They also said he received money from the thirty three promoted officers on the pretext that he would ensure payment of their drawbacks including other charges," he said.
Dr. Kabia said it was for those reasons that Khoda was transferred to other area whilst investigation was ongoing.
When contacted, the transport manager of the ministry of health and sanitation Musa Konteh said it was a surprise to have seen such an article because the DAF engine with registration number AAU 002 is at the engineering department of the ministry and nobody has taken it away.
