Port Louis — Spanish actress Penelope Cruz is the best dressed celebrity of the year, while Cuban singer Niurka Marcos has earned the dubious title of worst attired, according to a poll by a Spanish magazine.
People en Espa-ol magazine said in its report that the Bandidas actress had "always made the grade". To substantiate the report, the magazine published photos of the 34-year-old actress wearing gowns by designers such as Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Valentino and Oscar de la Renta at different events.
Ranking just behind Penelope was actress Charlize Theron, followed by Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, American actress Eva Longoria and Cuban American Lili Estefan.
Rounding out the list of the 10 best dressed celebrities were Katie Holmes, Colombian model and actress Sofia Vergara, Mexican actress and singer Lucero, Candela Ferrero and Cuban-American model and actress Daisy Fuentes, who, according to the magazine, "was the readers' favourite with 82 % of the votes".
Cuban singer, dancer and model Niurka Marcos, known for her outrageous attire and hairstyles was chosen as the worst-dressed celebrity with 86 % of the popular vote.
Maribel Guardia, Britney Spears, Maria Celeste Arraras, Paris Hilton, Alejandra Guzman, Aline Barrios and Janet Jackson also made to the worst-dressed list.
Among male celebrities, soccer star David Beckham was named best dressed, followed by Spanish actor Javier Bardem, George Clooney and Mexican Mauricio Islas.
