Kano — Fidelity bank Plc is working on strategies to start Islamic banking in its operations, the bank's Regional Manager Alhaji Idris Yakubu has said.
At a press conference to mark the 20th anniversary of the bank in Kano, Alhaji Idris said that the effort is being made considering the needs of some people in this part of the country who prefer the non profit Islamic savings system.
According to him, the bank is expanding its reach through out the region as its branches in Katsina, Yola and Jos are to start operation in the next two weeks while that of Bauchi and Jalingo are to be launched by the end of August.
"By December, 2008, we hope to have approximately a total of 35 branches in the north" he said.
Alhaji Idris added that to show appreciation to its numerous customers who through out its two decades of operations stood by it, Fidelity bank will launch a promo titled, "save and fly promo" starting from 1st August to 31st December, 2008 which, according to him will give all customers equal chance of winning.
"In the save and fly promo, we give our people the incentive to building a savings culture and we also offer them the opportunity to broaden their horizons; to have a life-changing experience by visiting Dubai which we believe is a transformational thing we can offer," said Alhaji Idris.
He further explained that all that interested customers need do is to open an account and top it with N20, 000 each month throughout the promo period and win an instant prize and as well automatically qualify for the draw which will be carried out in December.
Alhaji Idris further said that the aim of the promo is to encourage and inculcate savings culture among members of the society by creating an immediate incentive.
