Ephraim Keoreng

6 August 2008

Former Zambian president Dr Kenneth Kaunda is expected to be among key speakers at an information dissemination seminar on strengthening HIV/AIDS and food security coping and mitigation mechanisms to be held in Gaborone this month-end.

Seminar participants will deliberate on the relationships of nutrition and HIV/AIDS treatment. Professors Obed Lungu and Kenny Samui from Golden Valley Agriculture Research Trust (GART) will also be among key speakers.

According to a press release from the Botswana Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (BONEPWA+), the organisers of the event, the objective of the seminar is to share information on a food security pilot project that is being implemented by BONEPWA+.

"The regional food security pilot project on strengthening HIV/AIDS and food security coping and mitigating mechanisms is being supported by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). The project is being implemented in four countries - Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Zambia," reads the organisation's press release.
