Angola: Ruling MPLA Uses Air Time to Summarise Governance Programme

6 August 2008

Luanda — The ruling MPLA party last Tuesday used its first five-minute air time in the Public Television of Angola (TPA), in light of the electoral campaign, to summarise its governance programme for the 2009/2012 period.

As a publicity spot and with the journalist Luís Domingos in the limelight, the party divulged an idea that will be its guidelines during the electoral campaign, taking into account the achievement of its goals.

Interviewing youths, as the main beneficiary of its future activities, MPLA also showed the results of deeds carried out along the years, mainly as from 2002, when Angola achieved peace.

MPLA's 10-minute air time in the National Radio of Angola (RNA) was occupied with an interaction between the journalists Paulo Miranda Júnior and Luís Domingos, who also discussed about the deeds achieved and future challenges in various sectors of the country's social, economic, cultural and political spheres.

Besides Portuguese, MPLA aired its radio programme in the local vernacular languages, namely kimbundo, umbundo and fiote, in a clear proof that it aims at reaching Angolans from every social status.

MPLA's air time in the Public Television of Angola (TPA) is set at 7:55 pm and in National Radio of Angola (RNA) at 8:35 pm.
