State Minister for privatisation Rukiya Chekamondo has called upon coffee farmers in Kapchorwa to unite and get value for their products.

"Let us have skills and look for finances. As long as you have the skills, you can use them to produce more coffee. Use the knowledge to increase quality and quantity," she said.

Chekamondo was speaking at a farmers' meeting held at the District Farmers Association conference hall after touring the Sebei Cooperative Union coffee factory.

She added that the formation of groups would provide the farmers with opportunities to share ideas and resources so that they produce high quality Arabica coffee that meets international standards.

The farmers were meeting a delegation from the US, invited by Pastor Tom Godwin of Glorious Church.

The members included the Director of Agriculture in the State University, Dr. Daniel Clay, Senior Marketing Specialist for coffee Anne Ottawa and coffee production and processing specialist Gen Kapper.
