The FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar has appointed members of the Abuja City University steering committee to be chaired by Professor Pat Utomi. The minister made this disclosure yesterday in Abuja, during an interactive session with some state governors on the Public-Private-Partnership that forms part of the ongoing 'Nigeria Infrastructure Summit'.
Umar said that the FCT Administration appointed Utomi as the chairman of the committee because of his antecedence in such endeavour, especially as the owner of Lagos Business School.
According to him, the steering committee would be inaugurated next week to ensure that the City University takes-off in earnest and takes its proper position in contributing to the capacity building of the manpower in the FCT.
The minister, who presented a paper on the "Challenges of Financing Infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory," said when the Abuja City University officially takes-off, it would provide the platform where technical knowledge and expertise could be impacted easily, rather than travelling abroad for such basic trainings.
Umar disclosed plans of the FCTA to establish the Abuja Infrastructure Investment Center, adding that a framework has been developed through the center to disseminate knowledge and skills relevant to infrastructure projects.
"The center would establish unified policies and guidelines for Public Private Partnership in order to guide the behavior and conduct of investors as well as staff," the Minister added.
The session was attended by the governors of Ogun, Lagos, Kaduna and Kano states as well as investors from all over the world.
