Pretoria — The president of the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC) has challenged the church to play a more active role in tackling pressing issues in the region and Africa.
Archbishop Buti J. Tlhagale OMI reminded his colleagues at the opening the SACBC plenary on Thursday that they were duty-bound to find solutions to the problems, many of which stemmed from a moral crisis. He spoke on 'The Pastoral Ministry of the Bishops' Conference'.
"At issue are the moral virtues of accountability and integrity, of transparency and honesty, of loyalty and commitment to service and the upliftment of the standards of living for the majority of the poor people."
