Beitar Jerusalem midfielder Derek Boateng has rubbished reports that he was racially abused after his side was dumped out of the Uefa Champions League last week.
Beitar Jerusalem were leading Wisla Krakow 2-1 from the first leg, but they were thumped 5-0 by the Polish champions in the reverse fixture to end their Champions League dreams.
Reports suggested the 26-year old had on Friday been subjected to racial abuse by his own set of fans, who were unhappy with the loss, and that they had turned up at the club's Beit Wagan training grounds to direct monkey noises at him.
But Boateng is adamant nothing like that happened.
"To be honest with you, I am surprised about the reports," he told KickOffGhana.com. "No-one did anything like that to me. We lost a game in Poland, which was painful for everyone, but everything is fine and everyone is getting on with their lives.
"Playing in the Champions League would have been great, but it is not the end of the world."
Now Boateng hopes the club can channel its energies into having another fine season after their League and Cup double in the previous one.
