Namibia: Marelize Gets Ready For Miss World

Windhoek — MISS Namibia 2008, Marelize Robberts, is currently in Cape Town to prepare for the Miss World beauty competition which will be held in Kiev, Ukraine, on October 4.

Accomplished pageant trainer Adrian Skelly is teaching her all she needs to know.

Designer Paul van Zyl has designed her official evening gown, which will be a soft ice-blue to match the shades of the gemstones in the Miss World crown.

It is going to have gentle layers of glittering tulle and chiffon.

All contestants receive a wardrobe list of items they are expected to pack for their one-month visit overseas.

Skelly feels that putting together a pageant wardrobe has to be done with a strategy in mind.

"The clever use of colour can help a contestant to stand out from the rest."

For her interview Marelize will be wearing a knee-length red wrap dress and honey-coloured high heels.

Miss World contestants are expected to submit photographs for judging and Shine professional fashion photographer Janine van der Tuin was asked to capture on film the beauty of Miss Namibia.

She believes in first establishing a relationship with whomever she shoots, understanding their personality using this as a basis for creating authentic poses.

"She is a natural model and lights up for the camera.

Marelize gives her best and enjoys posing, which creates an amazing energy between the model and photographer.

With the right team to guide her, Marelize could do exceptionally well," she said.
