Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has said his administration will look at the possibility of actualising the proposed Guyuk Cement Industry in view of the abundant limestone and gypsum deposits in the area.
Nyako stated this when members of Lunguda community in Guyuk Local Government Area of the state, led by the Kwandi Nunguraya, Chief (Dr) Wilfred Kimde, paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Yola.
The governor described Lunguda land as one blessed with abundant human and natural resources, which if fully tapped, would bring development to the state and the country in general.
He said that since the area was endowed with rich arable land to produce large quantity of agricultural yields, the people should embrace agriculture in all ramifications, adding that efforts were being intensified by his administration to revitalise the sector, create job opportunities and improve the socio-economic well-being of the citizens.
The governor urged them to bury their political differences and work in peace and harmony for the corporate existence of the area, as no society can grow in an atmosphere of chaos and division.
Speaking earlier, the spokesman of the delegation, Air, Vice Marshal Dan Suleiman (retd), said that they were at the Government House to demonstrate the solidarity and support of the Lunguda community to Nyako's administration.
Suleiman said that the community used the opportunity to thank him for appointing one of their sons, Kobis Ari Thinmu, as the secretary to the State Government, eulogising Kobis Thinmu as a hardworking, committed and loyal son who would not disappoint the governor or the Lunguda community.
In his remark, the leader of the delegation, appealed to the people of the area to bury their hatchet and work as a team so that the administration can fully exploit the abundant resources in the area.
