Tension is gradually building up in the Garden City, Kumasi, ahead of this Saturday's IBF Inter-Continental Middleweight contest between Ghana's Kofi Jantuah and his Argentine opponent Ricardo Manuel Genaro.
The Ghanaian, who until recently was domiciled in the United States of America is confident he has what it takes to win before the fanatic home crowd. "I am well conditioned and in the best of shapes to emerge winner in the forthcoming bout, although my opponent is equally good", he said in a telephone interview yesterday.
"Besides hoping to fly on the wings of the home crowd to record a win, I am stirred to go for the kill, owing to the fact that a win will push me a gear further in the rankings for a shot at the World title," he added.
The bout, under the distinguished patronage of Asantehene, Nana Osei Tutu, intends to popularise the sport in the region, will also see other interesting under- card bouts.
Attoh Quarshie's Charles Adamu will take on Mohammed Bameyi of Panix Gym in an eight round super middleweight contest, while James Aryee faces Agyin Tettey in a middle weight bout.
In a welterweight contest, Philip 'Sweatpea' Kotey will cross swords with Panix' Theophilus Tetteh, with Prince 'Too Hot' Doku of Believers Gym facing Fits Square's Kwame Archer in an eight round contest in a super light weight bout.
