Bank of Ghana's Exchequers last Saturday punctured the aura surrounding the invincibility of current league leaders, CEPS, when they stunned them 1-0 at the Theodosia Oko Pitch.
After a 0-0 first half, it was the bankers who looked more hungrier for success and just 15 minutes into the second half, U-21 star Osmanu Abubakar perfectly connected home a Samuel Kwao pass to clinch the only goal of the game. The security officers tried in vain to cancel the lead but goalkeeper Danso Aikins and his backline doubled their efforts and held on to the slender lead till the final whistle.
Earlier in the day, Trustees and Marine Sticks shared honours in the 2-2 game, while NDK Financiers thrashed Citizens 3-0. Multistix hammered Veterans 6-0 with Real Ambassadors losing 1-5 to Reformers. Golden Sticks avenged the 1-2 defeat they suffered at the hands of Police last week when they won 2-1.
Last Friday, Extinguishers of Fire Service drew 0-0 with Reformers in the ladies category, while CEPS mauled Real Ambassadors 11-0.
The league enters the tenth week this weekend with interesting pairings.
