Liberia: Man, 42, Allegedly Raped 13-Yr-Old Girl

Monrovia — A 42-year-old man, John Dennis, who claimed to be a herbalist has allegedly raped a 13-year- old girl in Karluway District, Maryland County.

According to our correspondent, the alleged rape occurred June 14, 2008 and was reported to the Police in the county.

When our correspondent visited the area, police authority confirmed the incident.

The police told The NEWS that the 42-year-old man was apprehended and taken to Tugbaken Town police detachment by one Wilson Ramcy.

According to police preliminary investigation, the alleged suspect admitted having sex with the girl.

He said the girl was suffering from epilepsy and that her parents asked him to treat her since he is a herbalist.

The police told our correspondent that both the suspect and victim were turned over to the Women and Child Protection Unit of the Liberia National Police in the county.

The suspect has been sent to the Harper Magisterial Court for prosecution.
