Ghana: GT Provides Assistance to College of Health Sciences

Guaranty Trust (GT) Bank, has donated GH¢10,000 ( Ten Thousand New Ghana Cedis) to support the second annual scientific conference of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), on September 24-26, 2008.

"Harnessing Research for Health of Ghanaians: The Role of the College of Health Science," is the theme of the three-day conference, the first edition which was held last year.

Mrs Jessica Benson Dzam, Airport Branch Manager of the bank who presented the cheque to Professor Andres Adjei, Deputy Provost of the college at the ceremony in Accra, on Friday, said GT Bank was happy to be part of the programme, saying it was a demonstration of one its social responsibilities.

The Bank she said recently supported the Ghana@50 celebration, the Otumfuo Asantehene's annual golf, the Ghana softball and baseball association and the Miss Lebanon Pageant among others.

The Deputy Provost, in receiving the donation thanked the Bank; the title sponsors of the conference first held last year, said the programme is to enable all health personnel within and outside the college to share information on methodology and health delivery in Ghana and outside Ghana.

Mr. Perry P.K. Ofosu, Assistant Register of the college who assisted the provost to receive the donation said the college has seven institution including the university of Ghana Medical School, University of Ghana Dental Science and School of Allied Health and Sciences.

The rest are School of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, School of Nursing and the Nogueli Institute for Medical Research.

Assisting the Provost and Registrar were Mr. Kingsley Appo, Secretary to the College and Ms Deborah Kyei, a member of the planning committee of the conference.
