Ghana: Boakye Seals Nuremberg Deal

14 August 2008

Ghanaian striker Isaac Boakye has joined German Second Division side Nuremberg after impressing on trials.

The 26-year-old signed a two-year contract on Wednesday from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

Boakye, who was contracted to Wolfsburg until 30 June 2009, is believed to have been released for free.

Wolfsburg were keen to reduce their wage while Nuremberg were not ready to part with money for the striker because of his patchy form.

Boakye has returned to Wolfsburg last month after failing to impress at Second Division side Mainz 05.

He joined Mainz in January hoping to seal a permanent deal but after scoring just one goal in 13 appearances Mainz were not keen giving him a contract.

The former AshGold striker moved to Wolfsburg in 2006 after three successful seasons at Armenia Bielefeld where he scored 24 times in 61 games.
