Monrovia — The Program Officer of the Better Life Youth Organization, Jefferson J. A. Telar has called for the inclusion of sex education in the Ministry of Education curriculum.

He said if sex education forms part of the curriculum, it would minimize the high level of teenage pregnancy in the country.

Mr. Telar spoke recently when the Better Life Youth Organization conducted a training of trainer's workshop on HIV/AIDS in Gardnerville outside Monrovia.

Better Life Youth Organization is an auxiliary of the Liberia Dujar Association established to provide quality education for future youth leaders and create awareness on the danger of HIV/AIDS.

Speaking further Telar observed that early education on the danger associated with unsafe sex could prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS across the country.

He said HIV/AIDS is a threat to the future and survival of young, and as such, he warned that they should take preventive measures.

The youth advocate attributed the low prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Europe, America and other industrialized nations to the availability of education and other available information on how to avoid and prevent the virus.

He assured participants that the Liberia Dujar Association was galvanizing resources to support programs gear towards preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS in Liberia.

The workshop brought together over 100 youths from various communities in the area.
