Despite their inability to return to the Nigerian Premier League, Dolphins FC still want top choice goalkeeper, Chijioke Ejiogu to remain with them.
One week after assuming duties as the new manager of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma listed Chijioke Ejiogu as one of the twenty three players he wants to remain with the club.
Ejiogu, arguably the best Nigerian goalkeeper, joined Dolphins in 2004 and won the League and FA Cup the same year.
He went on the win the FA Cup again in 2006 and 2007 before trying to move to Akwa United when Dolphins were relegated at the end of the 2006/2007 season; a move that fell through when Dolphins refused to back down on the ten million naira transfer fee they wanted.
Dolphins are also holding on to players like Sunday Rotimi, Edward Iyowuna, Victor Babayaro, Kola Anubi and Alhassane Dosso.
The team left Port Harcourt for Owerri on Wednesday where they will spend the next two weeks warming up for the league's kick off.
It has already been rumoured that Ejiogu, Anubi and Dosso might be moving to Enyimba, a move that neither Dolphins nor Enyimba have confirmed.
The club dropped former Eagles attacker, Momodu Mutairu alongside Abubarkar Musa, Thankgod Amaefule, Okey Iweanya, Amafe Edebiri, Godwin Taiwo, Kingsley Nnaemedo, Eze Wobike, Igwe West and Ndidi Marvin.
