Gonne — The construction of a cattle market in Gonne sub-zone at an expenditure of about 1.5 million Nakfa has been finalized and is already rendering service. The Administration of Gash-Barka region covered the expenses.

The head of economic development in the sub-zone, Mr. Tsegai Tekle, said that the local inhabitants used to encounter problems as there was no market center. He explained that the construction of the facility would play significant role in boosting Government revenue.

Reports indicated that the newly constructed marketplace could accommodate over 5,000 cattle at a given time and that there are more than 125,000 cattle in Gonne sub-zone.
