Luanda — Registered voters might have access to inform on their electoral identification and exact voting site through the PDA system, available at institutions linked to the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
The information was made available on Wednesday, in Luanda, by the member of CNE, Raúl Araújo , during the presentation of the campaign on the system of information to voters by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Electoral Process (CIPE).
A personal digital assistant (PDA) is a handheld computer also known as small or palmtop computers. Newer PDAs also have both colour screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones, (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players.
According to Raúl Araújo , the PDA system follows the SMS and telecalls services presented by CIPE, but shall be in possession of various institutions linked to CNE.
Raúl Araújo stated that this services aims at guaranteeing that every registered citizens are in conditions of knowing exactly were to cast their votes, so as to avoid hindrances in locating polling stations.
According to the jurist, to the contrary of the 1992 elections, in which people could freely choose voting sites, the current legislation demands citizens to vote in their residential areas and in the rightful polling stations.
