Angola: Police Chief Closes Course in Huíla

Luanda — The general commander of the National Police, general commissioner Ambrósio de Lemos left Luanda, this Wednesday, for southern Huíla province, to chair on Thursday the closing ceremony of the course of officers of the corporation.

Speaking to ANGOP at "4 de Fevereiro", International Airport, Ambrósio de Lemos said that with such staff, the provincial corporation counts on a reinforcement of over 1,000 police officers.

With regards to this purpose, the top police officer said that this will be the beginning of what is intended in terms of autarchy already outlined by the government, and he also announced that similar courses are underway in the provinces of Benguela and Cabinda.

Finishing touches are being given to construction works of police training centres in the provinces of Kuando Kubango and Malange, "something that represents the commitment to the training and recruitment of local staff, thus avoiding moving from province to province for personnel training", noted the general commander.

After the closing ceremony of the course in Huila, the police chief will leave for central Benguela province to learn about a similar upgrading course underway at the local school and assess the existing conditions.

On Tuesday, the general commissioner met with every provincial commander to assess the rate of readiness to cover the legislative elections set for next September 05.
