Luanda — The European Union (EU) electoral observers mission in Angola started Tuesday touring the country's 18 provinces with view to follow up the electoral process.
According to the mission's deputy-chief, José de Gabriel Pérez, the observers' team is willing to closely follow up the historic process, the second legislative elections and the first one to be held in the environment of peace, democratization and stability.
José Gabriel Pérez disclosed that the European Union will cover all the country's regions, with two-member team for each region, but in Luanda and in some provinces, with high population density, the teams will be reinforced.
Each team will produce, on a weekly basis, a report of the situation on the ground.
Prior to the elections, the observers will hold contacts with representatives of the Provincial Electoral Commissions (CPE), political parties and the civil society.
Apart from seven Euro deputies and 20 diplomats of member countries' embassies of EU in Angola, the mission will be reinforced with 50 observers, between 26-28 August.
Some 8.3 million registered citizens are expected to vote in the legislative elections, set for 05 September.
