Angola: Chieftains Call for Moderation in Electoral Speeches

14 August 2008

Benguela — Chieftains in some localities of the central Benguela Province on Wednesday in Ganda District appealed to politicians to use moderate electoral speeches and respect the results that will come out of the September 05 elections.

The traditional authorities of the communes of Babaera and Casseque, respectively José Katchingossi and António Kalenga, urged the politicians to respect the will of the people.

"We recognise that the works being implemented by the government in the rural zones, as well as the employment of teachers and nurses in those localities, contribute to the increase of people's trust" stressed the chieftains.

According to them, the citizens are ready to participate actively in the forthcoming legislative elections, due to the fact that the speeches made by the politicians inspire optimism and confidence in the communities.
