Uganda: H.B. Toxic Now Intoxicating Fans

Kampala — Break-away girls, Hellen Lukoma and Brenda Nambi, are out and running. Hellen and Brenda (H.B.), going under the stage name H.B. Toxic, are spreading their wings far and wide.

In their latest offering, All I need, a fusion of English, Swahili, Luganda and a few Jamaican lines, the duo features Tanzania's sensational bongo flava star, A.Y, who does the rap.

The duo has capped it with a chic music video. Directed and shot by Centrix film, All I need has a presentation to help the duo touch base with the music audience. Shot at the elegant Emin Pasha, the video has a beautiful setting with leafy surroundings and the swimming pool side is aglow with good lighting, having been shot at night.

The lean girls show off some flesh in sexy outfits, a good bait to "intoxicate" the fans (mostly the male), and some alluring moves as well. Under the Wings of Talent 256 - an artistes' management company, the girl duo could be destined for big things on the local stage if luck sticks with them and they gain acceptance from the audience. Plus, they are good dancers.

Already, featuring the Tanzanian A.Y could get them an entry into Tanzania's market. The song has gotten them a lot of airplay on the local airwaves. For the start, collaborations seem to be the strategy.

H.B. Toxic has another collabo with General Mega Dee, Kyeninawo, which has got them airplay too. Kyeninawo has also got them into some of the top countdowns like Sanyu F.M's East Africa's finest, which is by local standards a good start.

The arrangement and production of their music is good but clearly a resound that they are making their entry and moving in the shadows of the Obsessions, a reflection of their overall style. The releases are part of their forthcoming eight-track album.
