17 August 2008

Beijing — Ethiopian legend Kenenisa Bekele won 10,000m gold in a new Olympic record of 27:01.17 Sunday night as one of Uganda's three medal hopes Boniface Kiprop finished 10th.

Bekele erased his old mark of 27:05.10 set in the final in Athens in 2004 with Kiprop coming 4th then.

Earlier, Galkina-Samitova Gulnara broke her world mark on her way to gold in the women's steeplechase while Jamaican, Fraser Shelly-Ann just won the women's 100m gold.
