Luanda — The minister of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, António Pitra Neto on Thursday here congratulated the first musicians who received their pension cards, which will guarantee their old age.
Pitra Neto was speaking at the ceremony of handing over cards to the first insured and pensioners of the self-employed regime, held at the Multi-Purpose Professional Training Centre.
According to the official, the granting of pensions to musicians was made possible thanks to the engagement and dedication of the late singer Teta Lando, whilst chairing the National Union of Musicians and Composers (UNAC).
He added that the activity shall be extensive to other provinces and that UNAC will be in charge of the provincial social security services.
The minister encouraged musicians to continue divulging the national culture, so that foreigners can be briefed more on aspects concerning Angola.
Pitra Neto also urged artists who did not receive the cards not to be disappointed because this is a continuous deed.
On his turn, singer Matadidi M á ¡rio thanked for the government's gesture and said that musicians have been waiting for this pension card for a long time.
