Kampala — Christianity has no room for trial marriages, Masaka diocese Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa has said.
"Most youth today are cowards. They prefer handling their marriages outside the church, which is very wrong," Kaggwa said.
"In the past, it was culturally unheard-of for a girl to leave her parents' home without introducing and wedding her husband."
Kaggwa was on Saturday presiding over the wedding ceremony of Timothy Nkata and Victoria Nabakka at Rubaga Cathedral.
Nkata is son of Buganda Kingdom's deputy Katikkiro Emmanuel Sendawula, while Nabakka is Kabaka Mutebi's niece.
Kaggwa urged the couple to always be there for each other. "When the Kabaka's officials were arrested recently, their spouses moved up and down trying to trace them. This shows what marriage means."
Mutebi attended the marriage ceremony.
