Its Director, Dr Shuaibu Kurfi, who disclosed this at a news conference said the amount represented 60 per cent payment for accommodation in Makka and 40 per cent payment for accommodations in Medina.

"As a policy, the states welfare agencies/boards are expected to remit at least 50

per cent of their accommodations fees to NAHCON," he said.

He said the Directorate would make arrangement for warehouses in Makka where mattress for pilgrims would be stored. Other arrangements, he said, included parking spaces in Jedda.

"It is interesting to note that pilgrims would know their room numbers before arriving in Saudi Arabia," he said. He said the FCT Minister had approved the provision of free meals to its pilgrims at Munna for three days.

"For this year's operations, we have computerized the payment, flight schedules and house/room numbering for pilgrims," he said.

Kurfi said the Saudi Arabian Government had directed that Nigerian pilgrims must be vaccinated against polio before arriving in Jedda.
