The government of Liberia through President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has announced that some 50 doctors from Cuba are due in the country soon to work with various health sectors across the country.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who made the disclosure over the weekend, said the doctors are coming to Liberian under a special arrangement her government in concluding with the government of that country.
The President, who was addressing a cross section of citizens from six communities on the government Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS), said the decision to bring the doctors is based on the fact that the nation lacks trained medical doctors to work in the health sector, something which she noted would greatly help the health sector of the nation.
The President said under the arrangement with the Cuban authority, the doctors would be coming to Liberia early nest year.
She however, did not say who will pay the doctors and what role would the host nation play in helping the doctors to facilitate their work while in the country.
The Liberian leader also felt short to say how long would the doctors stay in the country before ending their duties in the country.
As a result of the civil war, most of the nation's highly trained and professional doctors have left the country in search of greener pasture in Europe and the United States.
Despite of this, a handful of the nation highly trained and best professional doctors about a little over 40 of them are still residing in the country and continuing to render their services to the nation.
In the wake of the gap created for train medical doctors across the country as a result of the civil war, over a thousand Liberians are reported to be entitled to one medical doctor.

The "Iron Lady" is doing great things for Liberia. There's no telling what Liberia will look like by the time she leaves office.
She just need to open Liberia up to Liberians by building highways, if even a single turnpike form west to east. With the great things she is doing, I dont want her to be seen in years to come as just another failure that left Liberians in jungles.
