Kampala — Motorcare Uganda, the sole franchised distributor of Nissan vehicles and Suzuki motorcycles in the country last Thursday 14, launched the latest type of Nissan pickups in Uganda - the much anticipated, all new Nissan Navara.

Speaking at the launch, Motorcare Uganda general manager, Mrs. Laurence Sparagano said: "The Nissan Nava two pickups are the great evolutionary leap forward, the standard by which all pickups will be built in years to come. Nissan Navara is an addition to the current Nissan lineup and now joins the ever popular Hardbody pickup and the patrol pickup."

The Nissan Navara is the first pickup truck to feature six-speed manual transmission. Mated to a second gen common rail system, this unique configuration promises smooth shifting, quick acceleration as well as improved fuel efficiency.

A five-speed Automatic Transmission version is also available. The Nissan also features such conveniences as an electronic-controlled 4WD system with "Shift-on-the-Fly" function. It enables one to shift between 2WD and 4WD with the use of a dial even without stopping.

It combines active and passive components into its exclusive safety system. As with all Nissan vehicles, the Navara is built in accordance with the Zone Body Concept. Its front crumple zone is designed to absorb energy in a crash, while a reinforced safety zone shields occupants from harm.

Inside, it's all SUV. From the fully redesigned dash to the spacious rear bench, the cabin is replete with amenities found in many luxury vehicles. (Beige leather seats, an illuminated ignition switch, generous legroom and an assortment of convenient storage areas for one's gear).

The Navara also has the longest wheelbase in its class.

The rear wheels have been pushed further backwards, allowing for a larger cabin as well as a longer, wider and deeper bed.

Its YD25DDTi turbo intercooler diesel engine itself is a record holder, the most powerful in its class, delivering horse power at 174 Ps and a maximum torque of 403Nm. All while providing better fuel efficiency and reduced emission.

The independent front suspension coupled with coil spring helps isolate bumps and keeps vibrations to a minimum for a smoother ride. High strength leaf springs increase load carrying capacity. While, stabilizer bar is also present to minimise body roll.

According to Motocare's sales manager, Mr. Moses Banturaki, the Nissan Navara 2WD costs US$42,000. 4WD are in two modes that is Basic mode which costs $45,000 and High mode which costs $49,000.
