Asmara — A group of visiting Dutch tourists said that Eritrea is a major tourism destination as it is endowed with rich tourism potentials and above all the prevailing peace and security.
The youth visitors told ERINA that they have been acquainted with the way of life and tradition of the Eritrean ethnic groups during the Festival at the Expo grounds. They further expressed admiration to the warm hospitality of the Eritrean people.
The head of the group, Lia Schaap, said that one can move freely at any time in Eritrea with a sense of security. Indicating that she has so far visited Asmara and Nefasit, Ms. Lia stated that she would visit the port city of Massawa and Keren.
A 19-year old Dutch tourist, Arjan De Uries, on his part said that he was highly impressed with the breathtaking landscape which he observed by climbing to Debre Bizen Monastery.
Still another visitor, Ms. Marieke De Bie, stated that she has exchanged experience with Eritrean youths and expressed satisfaction with the tour.
Likewise, Mr. Peter de Bie said that Eritrea would become one of the major tourism destinations, provided that the existing rich tourism potentials in the country are effectively publicized.
The Dutch youth tourists have visited the Eritrean National War-disabled Veterans Association, Orotta Hospital and Medical School, in addition to planting tree seedlings at the Martyrs Park.
