Kampala — UGANDA will face Tunisia in the semi-finals of the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) Cup/ 2011 World Cup qualifier.
The draw that was based on International Rugby Board (IRB) rankings will have the Ugandans make a tricky trip to Tunis next year.
According to Uganda Rugby Union (URU) official Ramsey Olinga, last Friday IRB and the Confederation of African Rugby agreed that the semi-final draw be based on IRB rankings.
"If we had beaten Kenya we would have got some points and overtaken Tunisia in the IRB ranking. Then we would host Ivory Coast in Kampala. We will have to work hard since we are playing away to Tunisia," Ramsey stated.
Uganda that is rated third in Africa beat Madagascar and Botswana to advance to the last-four stage.
Uganda and Ivory Coast may appeal to IRB to have the semi-finals played on a home-and-away format because the fixture was initially supposed to be based on the performance of teams in the competition.
Semi-final winners will face off in the final whose winner will become African champion and also get a slot at the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand.
