Some Northwest elite based in Douala recently paid a solidarity visit to Zachaeus Forjindam, sacked General Manager of the Cameroon Shipyard and Industrial Engineering Ltd, SNIC, at the New Bell Prison.
Forjindam was incarcerated on May 8 to await trial in an alleged embezzlement case.
The delegation was led by Dr. Daniel Muna, who is generally considered as the leader of the Northwest people in Douala.
In a chat with The Post, Nchechuma Banla Nchetievie, a member of the delegation, explained that they drew inspiration both from the Bible as as well as from the Northwest tradition and culture. As Christians, Nchechuma quoted the Gospel of Mattew Chapter 25: 40 - "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brother, you do unto me".
He said they thus, saw the face of Jesus Christ in their visit to Forjindam. As regards the Northwest tradition, Nchechuma noted that it prescribes that if one's brother has problems, he should try to console him.
Nchechuma as well recalled that Forjindam used to always interact with the other members of the Northwest elite in Douala whenever they had an activity or project to carry out, with much moral, material and financial contributions.
He also noted that it was the case during the launching of the Northwest Development Partnership in Douala in December 2003, the preparations for the Prime Minister's visit to Bamenda in May 2005, the mobilisation of aid to victims of the Bali-Bawock and Oku -Mbesa conflicts, as well as the preparation for the installation of Francis Fai Yengo as Littoral Governor in December 2007.
"There is thus, no way that Forjindam can be in detention and we remain indifferent, for that will be nothing short of inhumanity. We will react the same way, as red-blooded Bamenda people if any of us is in difficulties. That is what solidarity among brothers and sisters is all about," Nchechuma explained .
Meanwhile, asked about Forjindam's reaction to the visit, Nchechuma said he was so overwhelmed with emotion."Mr. Forjindam also used the opportunity to brief us on why he is in detention," Nchechuma added, though he did not give details.

It is outragous to hear that learned people like Dr Muna still behave like Iguanas, with just no sense of purpose in their little brains. How on earth could a group that should go out to fight a good course for it's people go out there to sympathise with an idiot who has no sense of human for other citizens? This just make some of us to think that we and/or some of our so call elites are not growing in heads and mind. Tambe UK
