Kampala — A TOTAL of 203 students of Kakoba Institute of Commercial and Technical studies have graduated.

They were awarded certificates in motorvehicle technology, nursery teaching, catering and secretarial studies during a function at Kakyeeka Stadium in Mbarara town on Saturday.

The deputy vice-chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Prof. Jonathan Baranga, presided over the ceremony.

He urged the graduands to look for jobs and develop their skills.

"Go out and look for jobs, work hard and don't undermine any job that comes your way because it could lead you to greater things in future," Baranga said.

"As the Bible says, God feeds the birds in the air but doesn't throw food in their nests. So you have to work hard and get food to support your families."

He urged farmers to embrace commercial agriculture to improve their incomes.

The acting principal, James Busesire, said the institute shapes students to attain skills for development.

He challenged the graduands to go for further studies to be productive and transform the society.

"Do not be proud of these certificates because they are just starters. Spending a night in a furniture workshop doesn't make one a chair or a table, therefore, the academic gown and cap do not make one a graduate," he said.

"It is what you produce that distinguishes you from the rest."
