Two Italian Serie A sides have expressed interest in signing Ghana captain Stephen Appiah, who has declared himself a free agent.
According to reports in many Italian newspapers, Genoa and Siena have made contact with the agents of the midfielder over a move.
This comes a day after Appiah revealed that he has quit Fenerbahce in a row over treatment he received from the Turkish side since a botched knee operation.
The two Italian sides are keen on signing the Ghana captain to boost their squad for the season and he could also be a bargain for them as he is could be signed on a free transfer.
The Serie A sides are facing intense competition from a growing number of English clubs, including Portsmouth, Tottenham and West Ham who have also been alerted about Appiah's availability.
Appiah revealed on his official website that he has not been paid for several months by Fenerbahce, which prompted his talk that he is a free agent.
Despite claims by Appiah that he will move on a free transfer, Fenerbahce are adamant, insisting they will only release the player for US$12m.
Fifa will decide later this month whether Appiah can leave on a free transfer.
