Nigeria: Fashola Commissions Six Classroom Block At Eti-Osa

Lagos — LAGOS State governor Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) has commissioned six classroom block built and donated by Chevron Nigerian Limited to Hasan Primary School in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The Governor, who was represented by the Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Gbolahan K. Daodu, at the Commissioning ceremony of the classroom block restated government's stand in ensuring that education remained a top priority in the state.

He said the government was committed to the provision of basic infrastructure, sound curricular and welfare which would make it one of the best educational states in the country.

"I have always insisted that our desire is to make our state a destination for learning and capacity building, a place where students and teachers will be happy to learn and work", he said.

Fashola also commended Chevron Nigeria Limited that built the six classroom block for Hasan Community, emphasising that Chevron's act of corporate social responsibility was commendable.

Stressing the need for Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the development of the state, he said it was a highly rewarding venture, which would forge a sense of common purpose and shared objectives.

Education, he said, was a vital component of the present administration's 10-point agenda, stressing also that it was critical to the attainment of Lagos State's policy of wealth creation.

The General Manager, Chevron, Mr. Femi Odumabo commended the efforts of Lagos State Government in restoring the state's education past glory by encouraging PPP in the sector.
