Luanda — The Angolan general-consul to New York, Júlia Machado, explained last weekend to the Angolan community residing in Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania (USA), about the current moment in Angola.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the new managing board of the Angolan Community Association in Pennsylvania, Júlia Machado said that on 5 September 12, 400 polling stations will be opened for Angolan citizens to vote.
According to the diplomat, the holding of the legislative elections in Angola will be an opportunity to show the world in general and Africa in particular, that we are a united people and able to hold democratic, free and transparent elections.
The official added that the political parties and coalitions in Angola will dispute 220 seats of the National Assembly.
Answering questions posed by the community regarding the current state of the country, Júlia Machado invited the community members to carry out regular visits to Angola to witness the country's progress, underlining that Angola has changed.
During the event, the general-consul of Angola saluted and encouraged the new managing board of the association for the responsibilities that they have, having exhorted them to continue with the work of the outgoing colleagues.
The association will be chaired by Salomão Lumbo who will have Daniel Kizenga as deputy chairman, whereas the secretary-general will be Daniel Kamevilako.
