Uganda: Kapchorwa Hospital Lacks Equipment

Rashid Muzungyo

19 August 2008

Kampala — KAPCHORWA district hospital is facing an acute shortage of basic medical equipment to facilitate service delivery.

The wards and clinics do not have diagnostic equipment like blood pressure machines, stethoscopes, Patella hummers, technical lights and head mirrors, the hospital administrator, Daniel Otulu, said during an interview with The New Vision recently.

Otulu said the staff also lacked protection gear, bed screens, wheelchairs, and X-ray.

He cited the absence of care sets for the caesarian section, laboratory and home-based care. He also said the hospital lacked dressing and delivery kits.
