Kampala — ECONOMIC monitoring state minister Morris Peter Kagimu Kiwanuka has warned Buganda Kingdom against using force while dealing with President Yoweri Museveni.

"If there is anything you want from President Museveni, you must handle him with care. Deal with him gently and you will get everything you need from him," Kagimu told Buganda Katikkiro John Baptist Walusimbi in Masaka on Sunday.

This was during a fundraising ceremony for Masaka Diocese. Walusimbi was among the Christians who attended the ceremony where Kagimu contributed sh500,000.

Masaka Diocesan Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa praised the Katikkiro for opening up talks with the Central Government to end the wrangles between Museveni and the Mengo establishment.

He added that religious leaders were also praying for Walusimbi to go through the difficulties he was facing. Walusimbi handed over to Kaggwa cash and cheques worth sh5.6m during the function.

Another sh5m was raised in pledges.

The Katikkiro challenged the people of Masaka to restore their past glory of being the brain behind developments within Buganda.

"I come from Busiro but in the past, I used to know the people of Masaka as those who educate others. You had the biggest matooke and coffee farms but today, everything comes outside Masaka," Walusimbi said.

"It is high time for you to prove that you are sons and daughters of Masaka district.

"I want every home to have a banana and coffee plantation not only for home consumption but also for selling to improve you incomes."

A total of 230 bags of cement were also raised during the fundraising ceremony.
