Ghana/Libya: Show Me What You've Got - Rajevac

20 August 2008

Ghana's fringe players seeking to break into the Black Stars ahead of the resumption of the 2010 World Cup will have the first opportunity to impress new coach Milovan Rajevac later today in an international friendly against Tanzania.

Rajevac travelled with the local component of the team on Monday after his official introduction and says the game in Arusha will provide those players called up the perfect opportunity to prove why they deserve regular call ups in the team.

I hope some of the players will prove why they must be in the team for Libya

"I am happy to be meeting the players and I hope that we have a good game," he said.

"The result of the game is not important for me on this occasion but the way the players play and how they handle themselves will be very important."

Ghana's preparations for the game has been hampered by the pull out of Derek Boateng over travel difficulties whiles the six Kotoko players called up could not join the team after running into difficulties while trying to join the side from Tunisia.

In their place another Kotoko player Kwadwo Poku has traveled to Arusha alongside Emmanuel Ansong of Heart of Lions and Liberty Professional's Sam Ayew.

There will also be no Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and many of the big names the Tanzanians had hoped will grace the occasion.

But Rajevac reckons he can find a few gems of his own later today.

"I hope some of the players will prove why they must be in the team for Libya," he said.
