Lagos — Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engineer Tele Ikuru, has said the hoodlums who kidnapped and later killed 93-year-old Pa Mathew Kaite Abu, will neither see old age nor peace in their lives.
Abu, father of Sir Ngozi Abu, Rivers State Accountant-General, died in the hands of his captors on July 18, 2008, two days after he was abducted from his home at Ihuama, in Ahoada East Local Government area of the state.
Speaking during the funeral service for the late nonagenarian at Saint Luke's Anglican Church, Ihuama, Ikuru said the hoodlums, who carried out the devilish act remain cursed till their fourth generation.
"The hoodlums that abducted and killed Pa Abu shall never see peace. None of these animals shall reach a ripe age: they have brought curses upon their lives, upon the lives of their families and their lineage, up to the fourth generation. These curses shall come true in their lives in Jesus name," he pronounced.
Ikutu, who represented Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a good life and was dedicated to the service of God.
"You should be consoled by the fact that if we die, we die in peace with Christ, if we live, we live at peace with Christ. I strongly believe that it pleases the Lord to allow your fahter to join Him the way he did," Ikuru said.
Ikuru, who rode through the deplorable road linking Ihuama Community, used the forum to announce the preparedness of the state government to construct and rehabilitate roads across the state.
Earlier in his sermon, Bishop of Ahoada Diocese (Anglican Communion), Rt. Reverend Nathan Ekpeye, called on Rivers State government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the killers are brought to book.
