Ibrahim Shuaibu

20 August 2008

Kano — About 40 Nigerians have been deported from Saudi Arabia for using fake passports at the entry point in Jeddah following several complaints from the Saudi authorities.

Kano State Comptroller of Immigration , Mr. Omoimi B. Ockiya stated this yesterday while briefing journalists in his office . He however said the Command was not holding any one in connection with the case.

The Immigration Controller said the fake passports were not necessarily issued in Kano, adding that the documents had been impounded.

He also said that most of the passports appeared to have been tampered with as the carriers were not the real owners of the documents .

Our correspondent in Kano learnt that some 40 Nigerian were deported to the country through Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in two separate operations.
