Ghana/South Africa: Ghanaian Pair to Stay At Free State Stars

20 August 2008

South African side Free State Stars have assured Ghanaian players Jonathan Mensah and David Telfar that they will remain in the team despite the departure of their countryman and coach David Duncan.

There have been fears that both Mensah and Telfar could leave Ea Lla Koto following the recent resignation and departure of Duncan. Both players were brought into the team by the former AshantiGold mentor during the off season.

Stars' brand manager Rantsie Mokoena has told KickOff.com that both players are staying with the team.

"They are not going anywhere. We signed them because they are good players and the fact that Duncan has left the team doesn't mean that they will also leave the team."

Mokoena said his team has still to decide whether they will bring in another technical director after appointment of Owen da Gama as their new coach following the departure of Duncan.

Da Gama had earlier been appointed as the club's technical director.

Free State Stars are reported to be after the services of midfielder Bruin Senokoane and according to Mokoena they are still discussing the players move with his team Bidvest Wits.
