Kampala — YOUNGSTERS will form the backbone of teams as the annual inter regional golf tournament starts at Kitante tomorrow.
This was revealed by he Uganda Golf Union vice president John Kisembo at a press conference at Kitante on Tuesday.
The organisers have so far received over sh45m in sponsorship from Kampala Casino and Tusker Malt Lager.
According to Kisembo, emphasis is on the youth as the golf union tries to implement their Vision 2020 which aims at bringing junior golfers to the fore.
"You will see more junior golfers on each of the teams"', Kisembo promised.
Some of the youngsters that might make the difference include Morris Ntege (Buganda), Said Mawa (Northern), Emmanuel Opio (Western) and Amarjit Virdee (Eastern).
Each region will register 24 players, four of whom must be ladies. The teams will have a handicap limit of 18 (men) and 24 (ladies).
The results of the best 20 players on each team will score points and the winner will be determined on the medal format of play where net scores are considered.
