The United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) is helping the Sudanese Ministry of Health to deal with the worst flooding the country's southern state of Northern Bahr El Ghazal has seen in years.
Torrential rains that hit Northern Bahr El Ghazal have strained already over-stretched health services in the region.
WHO has provided medical supplies - including a diarrhoea kit, insecticide treated nets and anti-malaria medicines - after the Government received word that cases of acute water diarrhoea and malaria were on the rise in the state.
For its part, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) is helping to assess the water situation in the area and to address the needs of those affected by the floods.
