A seminar on the implications of global climate change for sustainable agricultural production in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries will be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in October.
The six-day seminar will run from October 26 to 31 and is organised by the Dutch-based Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA).
According to CTA, issues such as land degradation, pests and diseases, renewable energy, lack of water management, food security, migration and the impact on traditional ways of life will be discussed.
It said resource-management strategies that ensure the sustainable use of soil and water, stop biodiversity decline and deal with emerging issues such as the growing demand for renewable energy were urgently needed.
More than 70 per cent of people living in ACP countries work in the agricultural sector.
