Nigeria: Need for Human Development

Lagos — Over the pass couple of years a lot has been said about the investments in the key sectors as one of the avenues to achieve human capital development. There is no doubt that Africa suddenly found itself behind in practically all the sectors across the development spectrum. Fortunately a few of her leaders began to look inwards on how best to bridge the yawning gap between their nations and the advanced world. So today while parts of the Continent battles against HIV/AIDS, famine, extreme poverty, wars, hunger etc there is still a development train that is whirling its way around. It seeks to highlight the point that investment in education and health for instance is one of the key ways in which the Continent can fight its way up the development ladder.

But do we have a sustainable flow of capable leaders who will always climb aboard the development train and then go on to exhibit the right amount of political will required for there to be any significant progress. One of the ways which determines the level of seriousness of our leaders is through the amount of investments put into education and health sectors.
