ZOOMLION Company Limited, a household name in waste management, continues to make exceptional headway in effective waste management disposal in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, and it environs.
Though it is an undeniable fact that waste management, over the years, has become a major headache in Ghana, particularly in the major cities, Zoomlion has come to live up to the expectation, that it has the professional skill and competence, to take charge of waste management systems in Ghana.
With a total working staff of 1,000 people, working in the Sekondi-Takoradi operation zone, Zoomlion has persistently ensured that the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi were always clean and tidy.
During the recent National Delegate's Conference, held by the New Patriotic Party, where Zoomlion played exceptional role in ensuring proper waste management disposal, at the venue of the conference, was a living testimony of how far Zoomlion had come in effective waste management.
Using manual labour in the sweeping of plastic waste, rotten vegetables, foodstuffs and fruits that had seeped into gutters, the untiring workers of Zoomlion cleared the conference ground.
And by the end of the conference, the Zooomlion staff had also cleaned up the ground efficiently.
Though governments globally, are working towards putting in place reliable waste management systems, linked to recycling and waste minimization, with the objective to ensuring fully integrated waste management systems, which are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
To this end, the Western Regional Operations Supervisor of Zoomlion, Mr. Felix Abankorah, told Western File that his company was clearly focused on delivering quality waste management solutions, by providing solutions that rely on ongoing technical innovations, which respect the environment.
To Abankorah, Zoomlion seeks first to satisfy their clients, by continuously improving their operations, to make them efficient and cost effective.
Consequently, it is offering free 240 litre bins, free of charge, to clients in various households to put their garbage in, and the company would pick it up and ensure its proper disposal.
The Operations Supervisor also told Western File that apart from the above services, his company also offered services in the form of infestation and fumigation, introduction of tricycle waste collectors, evacuation of rubbish heaps, among others, for the private sector.
The company has a vision to be at the forefront of Ghana's environmental services industry, by introducing and using simple but modern technologies, and methods of waste management, at competitive rates.
Takes on additional responsibility of supervising roads, proper sanitation to small scale bus centers After excelling as an effective and efficient waste management company, Zoomlion has now taken the additional responsibility of improving the conditions of access roads to small scale business centers, by grading and tarring.
It is also going to clear and dispose of piled up waste, and ensure proper sanitation in these business centers. This new responsibility comes after the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with Zoomlion, launched the programme for the improvement of small scale businesses.
The Ministry explained that it chose to partner with Zoomlion, for the kick-start of this new initiative, on the grounds that the company had the expertise, track record, equipment, experience, and the financial capability, to make the programme a success.
Consequently, the Western regional branch of Zoomlion, led by Mr. Felix Abankorah as Operations Supervisor, has swung into action, to make the initiative a reality.
Taking the press around both Sekondi and Takoradi Kokompes, where it is noted for small scale business activities, it was discovered that roads leading to these areas were being graded. And the poor lighting system was also being attended to, as well as the sanitation problems.
The Sekondi Meat Shop, on the other hand, was being re-roofed and painted, under the supervision of Zoomlion.
