Ghana: Massive Turnout Heralds Tafo Golf

An unexpected respectable number of golfers turned out at the Tafo Golf Club for two days of exciting golfing and socialization at the weekend.

The climax of the occasion was the celebration of the ongoing 70th anniversary of the Institution of the former West Africa Cocoa Research Institute (WACRI), now Cocoa Research Institute Ghana (CRIG).

This had the club celebrating the 60th birthday of Kofi Asante, an aide and childhood pal and brother of the CEO of UT Financial Service, Price Kofi Amoabeng and the grand farewell for the Managing Director of oil giants- Total Ghana chief, Majekodunmi.

More than 60 men and lady golfers from across the country's leading golf club, including Dr. Kobina Quansah, President of Celebrity Golf Club and Mr. K. Safo Debrah, captain of the club.

David Arkutu and Charity Agyeiwaa won the men and ladies 18-hole event with interesting scores. While Artuku returned a three under par 69 net in the men's event, Charity Agyeiwa had the best of the day's scores, an impressive seven under par 65net in the ladies action.

Mr. Prince Kofi Amoabeng, President of the host club, Tafo, thanked participants and their guests for their turn up, to honour the birthday of Kofi Asante, who he commended profusely for his loyalty.

Chief Majekdumi, the outgoing Total Ghana CEO was full of praise for his Mafia counterparts and made a donation of an undisclosed amount to the club for the purchase of a land mower and further pledged to join his colleagues whenever he was in Ghana.
